A Very Important Type of Linear Equation: SLOPE INTERCEPT FORM
The main type of linear equation we have focused on is: Slope Intercept Form
y=mx+b <-- Slope Intercept Form
In this type of equation you will see letters that represent SLOPE and the Y-INTERCEPT
m=SLOPE
y=Y-INTERCEPT
9
What are they?
Slope is the steepness of a line
Y-intercepts is where the line crosses the Y-axis

Finding Slope from Ordered Pairs or a Table
Go to the next slides to see examples...
16
type this in your calculator to get the slope!
17
Steps for solving for slope using the formula:
pick two points from the table.
label them x1 , y1 , x2 , and y2
plug into the formula
type it in your calculator with parenthesis and solve
18
Multiple Choice
Find the slope from the two ordered pairs:
(3, 9) and (2, -4)
*make sure you use the slope formula!
slope = (x2−x1)(y2−y1)

Multiple Choice
Find the slope from the given graph:
*make sure you use the slope formula!
slope = (x2−x1)(y2−y1)

Identifying Slope and Y-Intercept
You will be asked to identify the slope and y-intercept from a GRAPH
Y=mx+b
m = SLOPE
b = Y-INT
1. Find B (look where the line crosses the y-axis)
2. Pick two points on the graph (where the graphed line crosses the crosshairs on the coordinate plane)
3. Count Rise over Run to find the slope.
4. IF the line is going DOWN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, Your slope will be NEGATIVE! so make sure you add the minus sign in front of the number!

Graphing Slope Intercept Form
You will be given an equation in slope intercept form and will have to graph it on a coordinate plane.
This can be tricky, but follow these steps to help!
1. Start with B: put a point on the y-axis for the y-intercept!
2. Use the slope to graph 2 more points: move rise over run!
if your slope is a whole number, make it a fraction by putting it over 1 - this way you have a number for rise and a number for run
3. Connect all points to create a line with arrows on the end
Use headphones and watch this video!

NEXT Assignment: READ CAREFULLY!!!
Now that you have gone through these quick review slides, you will complete the assigned quizizz activities with a score of 85 or higher. You can use your notes or these review slides to help you. You can also take the quizzes as many times as you want.
Make sure you do the quizzes IN ORDER!
Don't forget that you can turn the read-aloud on for each quizizz!
I have all quizizz links posted in Google Classroom in the order that you need to complete them. These will all be for a grade. IF I return and you have not gotten an 85 or higher, then you will be sitting at lunch working on them until you do.
