• ​Greeks believed light was a stream of particles that flowed like water.

• ​1600s, Christian Huygens:

  • Developed a THEORY, light is like waves. Moved in straight lines, had tops and bottoms, and could be short of long.

• 1800s, Thomas Young:

  • Designed experiment that proved them right. Shined a light through a narrow slit in a piece of paper.​
