What are we learning today?
This quick (10 min) lesson will quickly revise what multi-platform storytelling is with a quiz.
Following this you will have time to revisit your 2021 draft of your IA1 Case Study prior to our next lesson.
It is expected that your first 2 sections are complete prior to next lesson.

Transmedia storytelling represents a process where integral elements of a fiction get dispersed systematically across multiple delivery channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience (Jenkins, 2007).
Multiplatform storytelling
4
Convergence Culture
Transmedia storytelling reflects the economics of media consolidation or what industry observers call "synergy." Modern media companies are horizontally integrated - that is, they hold interests across a range of what were once distinct media industries. A media conglomerate has an incentive to spread its brand or expand its franchises across as many different media platforms as possible. Consider, for example, the comic books published in advance of the release of such films as Batman Begins and Superman Returns by DC ( owned by Warner Brothers, the studio that released these films). These comics provided back-story which enhanced the viewer's experience of the film even as they also help to publicize the forthcoming release (thus blurring the line between marketing and entertainment) (Jenkins, 2007).
Key ideas: digital convergence, convergence culture, participatory culture, vertical integration, horizontal integration.

Where to from here.
Now that you are refreshed in your understanding of what makes a multiplatform story...
Your task is to revise and draft a final version of:
1. Introduction paragraph
2. Context of Production paragraph (must include significant technology, audience and institution factors).
Example: This horizontal integration is a significant institutional factor influencing the context of production. It provides multiple entry-points to a diverse range of audiences, expanding to traditional media in order to capture print/off-line and free-TV audiences, which typically is made up of an older demographic as opposed to digital natives (American Press Institute, 2017).
You must refer to your checklist / structure.
