What determines a population's size?

Remember: populations can grow smaller or bigger. This can happen in one way: movement.

o Immigration = Organisms move-in.

o Emigration = Organisms move-out.​

​Populations Move

​Observe how population sizes change.

Remember: populations also meet - for better, or for worse - for resources.

o Competition = Some species fight for the same resource.

o Cooperation = Some species work together.

It's best to remember that populations have to be balanced because of resources.

o Carrying Capacity = The maximum number of species for an environment.

o Limiting Factor = The "leveler" - keeps a population below its full potential
