What is the passive voice?

We use the passive voice when we are more interested in a certain part of a sentence.

We use it when we don´t need to know who is the "doer" of the action​.

​

​

"to be" + past participle.

Example: was created, is cooked, has been robbed, had been killed etc.

Bamboos = is the OBJECT of the sentence

​Are eaten = is the verb

Pandas = doer

Bamboos are eaten by pandas.

Who is the doer of the verb?​

Harry Potter was written by JK Rowling.

What is the passive voice?

Passive voice is normally used in news or articles. That´s why it may sound a bit formal.

But! It can also be informal by adding ¨they​¨

Who are they referring to with "they"?

CERAMICS ARE MADE OF CLAY

Which one is the object? Which one is the verb? What type of past tense was used?

Now, create a passive and active sentence.
