While R-12 was once the go-to choice for residential/domestic refrigeration systems, Freon™ R-134a refrigerant is now most commonly used. Its versatility allows it to work in home systems ranging from small under-the-counter refrigerators to family-sized refrigeration/freezer systems with multiple cooling compartments.

Freon & Refrigerant

Polyolester oil (POE oil) is a type of synthetic oil used in refrigeration compressors that is compatible with the refrigerants R-134a, R-410A and R-12

NEA has introduced a regulated e-waste management system that will ensure the proper collection and handling of e-waste and the extraction of valuable resources from e-waste. The regulated e-waste management system will also safeguard the environment and our health. The regulated e-waste management system is based on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach, where producers bear the responsibility for the collection and treatment of their products when they reach end-of-life

NEA’s appointed Producer Responsibility Scheme (PRS) Operator, ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling Pte Ltd from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026.

Alba has a data management system to track and report to NEA the amount of e-waste collected for recycling /treatment. All waste collected by Alba will be sent to NEA licensed e-waste recyclers.

Some of Alba's appointed NEA licensed e-waste recyclers:-

Cimelia Resource Recovery Pte Ltd

EWR2 Pte Ltd

ViroGreen

NEA has an e-tracking system that allows generators to declare the type of toxic industrial waste generated and appoint their NEA licensed recyclers for disposal.

The regulated e-waste management system will also safeguard the environment and our health.

Basic Product & Scrap Material Knowledge

Why precious metals used in electronics?

The primary reason is that precious metals conduct electricity much better than alloys. They also have properties like corrosion resistance and hardness that are important in electronic devices. Volume is the key. The amount of any given metal in a single device is scarce.
