This Week's Reading

For Wednesday, 1/26: Informational Text ("Beginnings to 1820") pp. 3-13

*Prepare: Two pieces of information from the text that will be most significant for analyzing Columbus's "Letter of Discovery." ​

For Friday, 1/28: "Letter of Discovery" pp. ​58-64

*Prepare: A quote (1-2 lines from the text) that stand out to you for a literary reason (style, tone, etc.) or connection to details from the informational text. ​

Jigsaw Guidelines

• You will turn in your handout at the end of the lesson, so everyone will complete one. This is also where you will complete your novel preferences.

• Your "expert" group will be made up of students who have been assigned the same novel. You will all prepare information about your assigned novel to then share with your home group, which will be a group comprised of students who were assigned different novels.

• ​You will have 15 minutes to complete the work in your expert group. When time is up, you will have 10 minutes to discuss the novels in your home group.
