• Photoautotrophs use light as a source of energy to synthesize organic compounds

• Photosynthesis occurs in plants

AUTOTROPHS (=producers)

• Live on organic compounds produced by other organisms.

• Dependent on photoautotrophs for food and for oxygen (a by-product of photosynthesis)
