We study the two dimensions in dance.  Making and Responding.

Making (Performance) – where you will perform a teacher devised dance in front of an audience

Making (Choreography) – this involves you creating a dance in a specific style

Responding – a written task that allows you to respond to professional dance works and inform the teacher what you know about the given dance.

A typical performance lesson​

Warm up

Revise any dance sequences learnt in previous lessons

Begin learning a new section of the dance

Rehearsal and or small performances to demonstrate your knowledge and ability.

HOMEWORK - for performance will involve you practicing the given dance in your own time and documenting your progress with the routine in your dance journal.

A typical responding lesson​

  • Watching a dance performance

  • Answering questions based on that performance

  • Converting notes into paragraphs

  • Linking the dance components (which I will teach you about) to the dance

  • Working on your written communication skills.

$5 Costume hire (Costumes are professionally cleaned)​

Classroom expectations

  • Arrive on time so that you don’t miss any of the work.

  • Be organised – bring dance clothes to change into and your dance book.

  • If you are injured make sure you supply a note from home.

  • If you injure yourself during class, please inform your teacher.

  • ​Arrive ready to participate - have a go!
