Unit 8B: Urban legends pg96

Everybody has heard that in northern countries, like Asia, water turns in one direction when it goes down the drain, but turns in the opposite direction in southern continents, like Australia. This, in fact, is not true. This urban legend has appeared on a number of TV programs, in episodes of The Simpsons, X-files, and even in a school textbook!

Unit 8B: Urban legends pg96

Another popular urban legend is that there are alligators living under the streets of New York City, or that someone once put a wet cat in a microwave oven to dry it. You may also have heard that it is possible to see Great Wall of China from the moon. None of these urban legends is true, altough these stories are often accepted as facts.
