Use of the preterite tense

​We use the preterite to describe completed actions in the past.

Some time frames and phrases to trigger the preterite:

ayer el domingo pasado de repente

anoche el fin de semana pasado el lunes pasado

anteayer el verano pasado la primavera pasada

-ar verb formation (example - hablar -to speak

Yo hablé nosotros/as/es hablamos

Tú​ hablaste vosotros/as/es hablasteis

ser and ir are formed in exactly the same way in the preterite. Ir is followed by the preposition "a". Ser is not followed by "a" ​
