  1. Delta: ​area formed by soil deposits at the mouth of a river

  2. silt: fine, rich soil that is good for farming​

  3. Atlas Mountains: Series of mountain ranges that is located in northwestern Africa that covers the countries of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia

  4. Nile Riv​er: The longest river in the world that flows northward into the Mediterranean Sea, flows through Egypt and nine other countries, with two tributaries that converge (meet) near Khartoum, Sudan.

These are the vocabulary words that will be on the Lesson 1 test. ​

  1. Sahara Desert: a desert that covers much of North Africa and about 31% of all of Africa covering 3.3 million square miles.

  2. Egypt: ​located in the most north east corner of Africa including the Sinai Peninsula, bordering Libya, Sudan, and Israel.
