Let's take a moment to think of who we would like to write to. Think of some questions you may ask them.

1. Think about what you already know about a field. Then write down two or three ideas related to that field you would like to learn more about or questions you would like an expert in the field to answer.

In order to ask these questions, we need an expert to write to. Quickly research an expert in the field you chose.

2. You may already know which famous expert you want to write to. If not, do some research on the field you've chosen to find out who the best-known experts are. Write the name of your expert below. Then, take some notes about where that person works and what his or her specialty is.

3. List two or three domain-specific terms you're likely to use in your letter. Explain what they mean. Use word roots and reference materials to find out.
