Lunar New Year is celebrated around January or February every year. It is based on the Lunar calendar

​Thousands of years ago, a monster named 'Nian' would destroy villages and hurt little children. It was a chaos.

The Story of Nian​

One day, a man advised all to put up red lanterns in front of their houses and wear red clothes.

​The man said, at midnight, they should light firecrackers too. When 'Nian' came, it couldn't attack villagers nor the houses. It was afraid of the colour red and the noise.
