Online and F2F Ss share the same class.
Small groups attend F2F classes.
The teacher has to cater the needs of both groups
What are hybrid classes?
4
Multiple Choice
Why is lesson planning important?
It lets us check if we are exploiting activities effectively to help both our F2F and virtual students have a shared learning experience.
It helps students focus on what we want to get at the end of the session.
It is an unnecesary document. It does not help.
5
LESSON PLANNING
When lesson planning, the teacher must bear in mind the two types of students he/she has in class:
a) in-person b) online students
Therefore the teacher should decide on the best approach to address the needs of both types of students.
In most cases, the same class activity (e.g. pair/group discussions) will be carried out simultaneously by both types of learners, and the teacher will be able to monitor them accordingly.
Lesson planning activities should be adapted to the current class context. The inclusion of a contingency plan is always suggested.
6
Multiple Choice
A lesson plan must include:
Date, warm up, number of pages and the goal check.
Lesson Objectives, Warm Up, Development of contents, Wrap Up.
Lesson goals, time and material.

What to take into account when planning an activity for a hybrid class
They may feel that you are not paying attention to them if you spend too much time speaking or checking in-person students...and vice versa.
Some of them may not be able to speak or can get distracted easily if you are not monitoring the task properly.
Virtual Students
They need to speak up to be heard by their virtual partners when speaking in class.
They may not have internet connection.
They may have some problems listening to each other in the classroom due to the masks and the safety distance.
The teacher must select the best channel to connect in-person students with virtual activities.
In-person students

Multiple Select
These are examples of asynchronous activities: (choose 2 options)
watching a video, liveworksheets.
watching a grammar presentation, reading a text.
small group discussion using breakout rooms.
9
When planning classroom activities that involve Internet connection (use of Jamboard, Quizizz, Kahoot, Liveworksheets, etc), make sure to ask in-person students to bring their mobile device with internet access to participate actively in those activities (only if possible).
Choose the best approach to address the needs of both types of students.
Take into consideration that sometimes activities take shorter time for in-person students, so be prepared to assign an extra activity or task.
