Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use the sun's light energy to change water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and nutrients called sugars or glucose.

​Chloroplast-a plastid (class of small organelle) that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place.

​

Chlorophyll- a green pigment in plants that absorbs light energy and converts it into a

form the plant can use for photosynthesis.

​

​How does radiant energy from the Sun change into chemical energy through

the process of photosynthesis in a plant?

​During the process of photosynthesis, light penetrates the cell and passes into the chloroplast. The light energy is intercepted by chlorophyll molecules on the granal stacks (disk like formations.) . Some of the light energy is converted to chemical energy.
