Adding / Subtracting Negatives

Same signs add - Different signs subtract

  • If two numbers are negative, add them and the answer is negative

    • -9 -9 = -18

  • If answers are negative and positive, subtract them and them and keep the sign of the larger number

    • -7 + 9 = 2 or 7 - 9 = -2​
