  • Echelman first set out to be an artist after graduating from college.

  • ​Echelman returned to the United States and began teaching at Harvard.

  • ​Promised to give painting exhibitions around the country.

  • ​Her paints went missing which forced her to turn from painting to sculpture.

  • Her first satisfying sculptures were hand-crafted in collaboration with those fishermen.

  • ​She now reshapes urban airspace with sculpture that responds to environmental forces (wind, water, light.)
