Quadratic Functions

Foiling Method

Foil stands for First, Outer, Inner, and Last. You start by multiplying the first numbers in each parenthesis. Then the outer 2. And then the inner 2. Finally you do the last 2 numbers. You then add them all together.

Quadratic Functions

Lattice Method

In the Lattice Method you have to use a box. You cut your box into fourths. On top of the box you put your first set of parenthesis. On the side you put your second set of parenthesis. You then multiply them together. Then add up all of the boxes. That's your final product!

Quadratic Functions

X-Intercepts

To find the x-intercepts you look in the parenthesis. The second number in the first set is the first x-intercept. But, since it's inside of the parenthesis, it's opposite. So if it were -1, it would just be 1! And then the second number of the second set is the second x-intercept. Again, since it is inside the parenthesis it is opposite.

What are the x-intercepts of this equation? (x - 7) (x + 3)

1

(-7,0) and (3,0)

2

(7,0) and (3,0)

3

(-7,0) and (-3,0)

4

(7,0) and (-3,0)

15

Multiple Choice

What are the x-intercepts of this equation? (x - 4) (x + 26)

1

(4,0) and (26,0)

2

(4,0) and (-26,0)

3
