Contoh :

1. Alas limas T.ABCD pada gambar di samping berbentuk persegi dengan panjang sisi 12 cm. TP adalah garis tinggi pada segitiga ABC. Jika tinggi limas tersebut 8 cm, hitunglah :

   a. panjang TP

   b. luas permukaan limas

​a. OP = 1/2 AB = 6 cm.

Δ​TOP siku-siku di O, maka :

TP² = TO² + OP² (teorema Pythagoras)

TP² = 8² + 6²​

TP² = 64 + 36

TP² = 100

TP = 10

Jadi, panjang TP adalah 10 cm.​

b. Luas permukaan limas​

= luas alas + 4 x luas Δ​BCT

= (s x s) + [ 4 x ( 1/2 x BC x TP) ]

= (12 x 12) + [ 4 x (1/2 x 12 x 10) ]

= 144 + 240

= 384

Jadi, luas permukaan limas tersebut adalah 384 cm²​

Volume Limas = 1/3 x luas alas x tinggi

1. Alas sebuah limas berbentuk segitiga siku-siku dengan panjang sisi 10 cm, 26 cm, dan 24 cm. Hitunglah tinggi limas tersebut jika volumenya 1.080 cm³ !

Jawab :

V = 1/3 x Luas alas x tinggi

1.080 = 1/3 x ( 1/2 x alas segitiga x tinggi segitiga) x tinggi prisma

1.080 = 1/3 x (1/2 x 24 x 10 ) x t

1.080 = 1/3 x 120 x t

1.080 = 40t

t = 1.080/40

t = 27

jadi, tinggi limas tersebut adalah 27 cm.​
