Parts of speech (Klasifikasi Kata)

Verb (Kata kerja)

​Verb merupakan kata kerja yang digunakan untuk mengekspresikan aksi, tindakan atau keadaan dari subjek untuk menunjukan peristiwa atau keadaan.

Verb is action or state. Example : (to) be, have, do, like, work, sing, can, must.

Contoh kalimat : ​I like meatball.

Noun (Kata benda)

​Noun atau kata benda digunakan untuk memberikan nama orang, benda, hewan, tempat, ide atau konsep.

Noun is thing or person. Example : pen, dog, work, music, town, London, teacher, John.

Contoh kalimat : ​This is my dog. He lives in my house. We live in London.

Adjective (Kata sifat)

​Adjective merupakan kata sifat yang digunakan untuk memberikan keterangan pada noun maupun pronoun.

Adjective describes a noun. Examples : good, big, red, well, interesting.

Adverb (Kata keterangan)

​Sesuai dengan namanya, adverb berfungsi untuk memberikan keterangan.

Adverb describes a verb, adjective or adverb. Examples : quickly, silently, well, badly, very, really.

Pronoun (Kata ganti)

​Pronoun merupakan kata yang digunakan untuk menggantikan kata noun.

Pronoun replaces a noun. Examples : I, you, he, she, some.

​Preposition memiliki fungsi untuk menunjukan hubungan antara noun dengan kata lain.

Preposition links a noun to another word. Examples : in, on, at, under.

Conjunction (Kata hubung)

Conjunction atau kata hubung berfungsi untuk menghubungkan dua kata, frasa, klausa, sehingga menjadi sebuah kalimat.

Conjunction joins clauses or sentences or words. Examples : and, but, or.

Contoh Kalimat : ​I like dogs and I like cats. I like cats and dogs. I like dogs but I don’t like cats.

Interjection (Kata seru)

​Interjection merupakan part of speech yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan emosi, biasanya berupa kata.

Interjection short exclamation, sometimes inserted into a sentence. Examples : oh!, ouch!, hi!, well.

Contoh Kalimat : ​Ouch! That hurts! Hi! How are you? Well, I don’t know.
