Cell Cycle, DNA Replication, and Cancer
2
The cell cycle is a series of growth, development, and division. It is composed of 3 stages:
Interphase (G1, S Phase, G2)
Mitosis (PMAT)
Cytokinesis
3
Interphase is where the cell spends most of it's life.
It is composed of 3 phases:
G1- Growth of the cell
S Phase- DNA Synthesis (to make DNA), DNA replication
G2- More growth of the cell, prepares for Mitosis.
Cell Cycle: Interphase

Why is it important for the cell to replicate DNA before mitosis?
10
Mitosis is where cellular division takes place. Specifically, division of the nucleus.
It is composed of 4 phases
Prophase- Nucleus disappears, chromosomes condense, centrioles form
Metaphase- Chromosomes line up in the MIDDLE
Anaphase- Chromosomes are pulled APART
Telophase- Cleavage furrow will form, ready for cellular division
Cell Cycle: Mitosis
