Multiplication, one of the four basic operations of arithmetic, gives the result of combining groups of equal sizes. In the example groups of 3 were combined 4 times.
Multiplication is repeated addition 3+3+3+3= 3 x 4 since we added 3 four times.
What is multiplication?

The two variables in the example are pizza and pepperoni. The pizza(z) is in the independent variable and the pepperoni(p) is the dependent variable. The equation for this example is p= 7z
When we get to Algebra we apply real world situations to math operations.
Using multiplication we can describe the relationship between two quantities(variables).
