Multiplication, one of the four basic operations of arithmetic, gives the result of combining groups of equal sizes. In the example groups of 3 were combined 4 times.

Multiplication is repeated addition 3+3+3+3= 3 x 4 since we added 3 four times.

What is multiplication?

3

The two variables in the example are pizza and pepperoni. The pizza(z) is in the independent variable and the pepperoni(p) is the dependent variable. The equation for this example is p= 7z

When we get to Algebra we apply real world situations to math operations.

Using multiplication we can describe the relationship between two quantities(variables).
