Major port city was Charleston, SC

Indigo was used for dying fabrics!

Port cities were created because of their geography. This style of geography is called a natural harbor. Oceans are rough waters, which makes dock on land without putting a hole in your ship nearly impossible. Natural harbors shield the ships from the oceans waves and are deep enough to create docks that won't damage ships.

fun fact- Great Britain was actually running out of space for prisons. Before proposing Georgia, they actually started using ships that were stuck on sandbars off the coast of England. One day, a candle on one of the ships caught fire can all the prisoners passed away. This encouraged the creation of Georgia.
