Boys and Girls Lea E. Basquinas

At school, during English class, Mr. Mahinay asked the class to group themselves and make a thank you card as an output. All the groups were busy doing their output. “Jilian, do you have another bond paper? May I ask for 2 pieces please,” asked Zaira.

“I think I have plenty. Here, take 3 pieces,” said Jilian, giving the pieces of bond paper to Zaira.

“Thank you, Jilian. You are so kind,” said Zaira.

Zarie was busy coloring the thank you card, when Zaira borrowed one of her crayons.

“May I borrow your yellow crayon, Zarie,” said Zaira.

“Here, Zaira,” said Zarie, handing over the yellow crayon to Zaira.

“I believe your card is more beautiful than mine,” said Zaira.

“Perhaps Jilian’s thank you card is the most beautiful,” replied Zarie.

“I don’t think so,” said Jilian. “I think all of our thank-you cards are beautiful.”

“Jilian is right,” declared Mr. Mahinay. “Every artwork is unique. Just like you little girls, you are all beautiful. You are unique from each other,” said Mr. Mahinay.

Running for President

Lea E. Basquinas

In every school, there is an umbrella organization for the pupils. An example of this is the “Supreme Pupil Government” wherein the pupils are being elected to practice and hone their leadership potentials.

“Good morning class,” greeted Ms. Villar. “The Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) election is fast approaching. There shall be two parties only. I think, for those who are interested, you may now start filing your certificate of candidacy,” she explained.

“I want to run as SPG president,” Danny said.

“Me, too. I want to run as president, but I’m a girl,” said Alaine.

Ms. Villar heard their conversation and explained to the class the idea of gender equality.

“Our organization is not biased. Whether you are a boy or a girl, as long as you can perform the duties and responsibilities of being a president, you are very much welcome. So, Alaine and Danny, submit to me your documents.”
