I Will, We Will , You Will Identify Functions Using Ordered Pairs, Tables, Mappings and Graphs
5
As previously mentioned, to find a function within ordered pairs; the X value can't repeat.
Can you find the which set in the diagram is not a function....Explain your answer.

Open Ended Questions:
Explain How you found out which one of the set or ordered pairs were function and which was not.
Give an example of ordered pairs that are a function to the best of your ability. Use the previous problem as an example to guide you.
7
To find a function within a table We must make sure that every X value has 1 Y value. If X has multiple values of Y, then it is not a function
Functions and Tables
8
Draw
Draw an example of a table that is not a function and with your partner (neighbor) how you would start in solving this problem.
9
For mappings to be a function....the input (x) must have only 1 output (y)
Is this mapping a function?
Functions and Mappings
10
Graphing is a visual representation of a table or a set of ordered pairs.
To find if the graph is a function the x value must have only one y value
We must do a Vertical Line Test to confirm the graph is a function
Functions and graphs
11
We use Vertical Line Test to make sure that the graphed function only intersects once with the vertical line.
If it intersects more than once, it cannot be a function
Vertical Line Test
