Reglar verbs in simple past
Construction:
When we want to use a regular verb in simple past, the general rule is adding ED to the verb:
Play = Played
I played soccer yesterday

However...
when the verb already ends in E we just add D:
Dance= Danced
Maria Jose danced champeta
When the verb end in consonat + vowel + consonat we double the consonant and add ED:
stop = stopped

Verb ending Consonant + Y
If the verb ends in Y and before you have a consonant, you change the Y for I and ad ED:
Study = StudiED
BUT: Play = Played

If the last letter of the word is spelled with D or T, the ED is pronounced as /id/
