  • is the ornamentation of textiles and other materials with needlework for personal use and decoration not only at home but for offices as well.

  • The term "embroidery" is an English word derived from the old French embroiders meaning edge and border.

History of Embroidery

  • Embroidery was introduced into the Orient by the Netherlanders in the 15th century. ​It was brought by the Spaniards into the Philippines where it has made a wonderful growth, and work done it rivals the best work done in Switzerland, a country noted for its exquisite embroidery.

Aida Cloth

  • Aida is a cotton fabric, which has an original mesh used primarily for cross-stitch embroideries. It is an even weave cloth that makes it easier for crafters to do a special embroidery without any hoop.

  • are intended for hardanger embroidery since the number of threads per square inch is same for both warp and woof.

Hardanger Fabric

  • Hardanger is 100% cotton and it is usually a 22 count fabric. It is a relatively inexpensive fabric, especially compared to linen.

Toweling Fabric

  • Toweling fabric is a woven fabric with distinct loops on both sides. ultra absorbent, it is perfect for robes and towels.

Thread

  • Embroidery thread is the special type of thread that is used for embroidery. It is usually a high sheen thread. This higher sheen is due to the looser twist. These threads need to be somewhat stronger because they need to go in out of the fabric a number of times.
