He asked the mechanic to repair his car -> He had his car repaired

Negations and questions

do/does + to have

did + to have

She doesn't have the flowers arranged​. Does she have the flowers arranged?

​I didn't have the clothes ironed. Did you have the clothes ironed? ​

Instead of passive to express accidents, misfortunes, or unpleasant experience

He had his cheek bruised in a fight = His cheek was bruised in a fight

Peter had his phone stolen last night = Peter's phone was stolen last night.

Did you have/get your hair cut?​

When someone persuades someone to do something

​Get + object + to infinitive

She got her husband to cut the grass.

(She persuaded her husband to cut the grass)

Someone causes someone else to do sth (but their meaning is slightly different)

​Make/have + object + bare infinitive

He made Armin send a fax (He insisted that Armin should send a fax)

He had Armin send a fax (He asked Armin to send a fax)​
