What makes someone British?

I didn't know that British supermarkets had one of the largest varieties of ready-made foods, since I don't think it's talked about much and since I've heard that London is overall quite an expensive city, I didn't know that the majority of museums there were free to visit. I guess a British habit that I find a bit odd is afternoon tea. I don't really understand the idea of just sitting down in the afternoon to have a cup of tea with snacks.

Personally, I have noticed the strange tension during royal events, where some people celebrate enthusiastically while others remain completely indifferent. Another peculiar habit I have found is the British sorry reflex, where people apologize even if someone else bumps into them! These unique legal and social rules make British culture feel very distinct.

The most suprising aspect of British life was that they have social rules for using an escalator. I think it was suprising because in Estonia we don`t have social rules on how to use an esculator.

I was really surprised by how polite Brits are. They say “sorry” all the time, even when it’s not really needed.

Definitely the part where they say "sorry" a lot, for anything really, even if it is just bumping into a chair.

I wasn't ready that British people drink 165 million cups of tea a day, seems insane to me.

One aspect of British life that suprises me was how indirect British people can be in communication. They often use polite expressions that do not always mean exactly what they say, which can be confusing.

Another interesting habit is the British love of queuing and following rules very strictly.
