Observing Erythrocytes

1. Obtain a blood smear slide for observation and bring it to a microscope.
2. Focus on your sample at the highest magnification possible while scrolling around to view the different blood cells.
3. Draw & label your erythrocyte (red blood cell) observations on the following slide.

As best you can, label your sketch. Include the total magnification of your observations at the bottom

Compare the size and abundance of Erythrocytes with the Leukocytes (white blood cells with nucleus stained blue).

1. Next, obtain a blood smear slide affected by the genetic sickle cell mutation. Bring it to a microscope for observation.
2. Focus on your sample at the highest magnification possible while scrolling around to view the different blood cells.
3. Draw & label your sickle cell effected erythrocyte (red blood cells) observations on the following slide.
