Dividing Fractions

To divide fractions​ you need to multiply by the reciprocal.

​

​The reciprocal of a fraction is found by flipping the fraction upside down. ​

Example:

Dividing with a whole number

​When dividing fractions with whole numbers you need to make the whole number into a fraction and then multiply by the reciprocal.

Dividing mixed numbers

​When dividing mixed numbers first turn the mixed number into an improper fraction then multiply by the reciprocal.
