Male Reproductive System
Here comes the topic
14
Reproductive Function
Before going any further, it's good to first discuss what is meant by the reproductive system. Like other systems, the human reproductive system consists of a series of organs and substances. Organs and substances in this system interact with each other to support the process of reproduction.
So, as the name implies, the function of the human reproductive system plays an important role in the survival and regeneration of mankind, you know. The process of reproduction begins with the sexual process, which is when a sperm cell meets an egg cell through sexual intercourse.
15
Reproductive Function
During the sexual process, the reproductive organs produce glands and hormones that work specifically according to their function. For example, the male reproductive system can produce and deliver sperm cells to fertilize eggs in the female reproductive system.
Well, the function of the reproductive system in humans works to complement each other. Here's the explanation.
16
Male Reproductive Organs
The male reproductive system consists of external reproductive organs and internal reproductive organs.
17
Penis
The penis is a vital organ in men that also functions as an external organ for urination or as a urinary tract. The penis consists of 3 cavities containing spongy tissue and surrounded by erectile tissue whose cavities contain many blood vessels and sensory nerves. The penis is also a medium or channel for sperm during the sexual process.
18
Scrotum
The scrotum is a pouch of skin that hangs from the base of the penis. Inside the scrotum are the testes, which consist of the right scrotum and the left scrotum. Between the left scrotum and the right scrotum is bounded by a septum in the form of connective tissue and smooth muscle. This skin bag serves to maintain the appropriate temperature of the testes when producing sperm.
19
Testes
The testes are the inner genitals that have an ovoid shape and number in a pair. The testes are located in the scrotum and are used to produce sperm and the hormone testosterone.
20
Epidymis
The epididymis is a tube that exits the testes and serves as a temporary storage area for sperm.
21
Urethra
The urethra is a gland that produces substances that contain bases (alkali), fructose (monosaccharide sugar), prostaglandin hormones and clotting proteins.
22
Prostate Gland
The prostate gland is a gland located under the bladder, which functions to produce an acidic fluid.
23
Cowper's Glands
Cowper's glands are glands that produce mucus and an alkaline fluid. This gland functions to protect sperm by neutralizing urine that has an acidic pH in the urethra, as well as lining the urethra to reduce damage to sperm during ejaculation.
