Six (6) Steps in QULITATIVE Analysis
9
Clean your data
-Spot checking- comparing the raw data to the electronic data to check for data entry and coding errors
-Eye-balling - involves reviewing the data for errors that may have resulted from a data entry or coding oversight
-Logic check- involves a careful review of the electronically entered data to make sure that the answers to the different questions make sense

10
Identifying meaningful patterns and themes
-the core process of qualitative data analysis
two primary ways:
(1) Content analysis
(2) Thematic analysis
Interpreting your data
steps in interpreting your data:
(1) Points or important findings should be listed.
(2) The lessons learned and new things should be noted.
(3) Quotes or descriptive examples given by the participants should be included.
(4) The newfound knowledge from other settings, programs or reviewed literature should be applied.

18
The relation between the work done, the original research questions, previous work discussed in the literature review chapter, and any new work appearing since the study began

19
Guide questions:
Are your research results consistent with previously published results on this topic?
If yes, do your research results confirm or further support your existing knowledge/conclusions from previous studies in research?
If not, do the research methodologies used in these studies differ from what you used in yours? Could the differences be attributed to differences in factors such as the sample size, animal models, patient characteristics, geographic location of the study, time or length of study, experimental conditions, and outcome measures?

Relating Findings to Relevant Literature
20
Guide questions:
Irrespective of whether your research results are consistent or inconsistent with those of previous studies in your research field, are your interpretations aligned with those presented by the authors of these studies?
How relevant or significant are your research results in the context of existing literature

EXAMPLE OF RELATING FINDINGS TO THE RELEVANT LITERATURE
The attributes which work provides for an individual such as the latent functions proposed by Jahoda (1982) (time structure, status, and identity, goals anchored in collective participation, social experiences, and enforced activity) were seen as significant by the participants because they provide meaning and purpose to a persons life and were therefore seen as a prerequisite to overall well-being.
