COMPONENTS OF THE BLOOD

3

media

The human circulatory system is a vast network of organs and vessels that is responsible for the flow of blood, nutrients, hormones, oxygen and other substances to and from cells. The heart pumps blood around the body. The blood vessels carry blood to all parts of the body. Blood is a fluid mixture that carries substances like nutrients, oxygen through the body. The circulatory system also removes unwanted substances from the body.

It pumps the blood throughout the body. The heart is muscular and works wihtout tiring throughout the entire person's life. It has 4 chambers

The heart

Act as tubes for the flow of blood. There are three types of blood vessels; Artery, veins and capillaries

Blood Vesssels

The fluid that moves in blood vessels. It carries different soluble materials into and out of the body. The components include red and white blood cells, plasma and plateletes

The left-hand side pumps oxygenated blood around the body. Each side of the heart consists of an atrium and a ventricle which are two connected chambers. The atria (plural of atrium) are where the blood collects when it enters the heart. The ventricles pump the blood out of the heart to the lungs or around the body.

In your own words, explain the movement of blood within the 4 chambers of the heart

media

The heart consists of four chambers in which blood flows. Blood enters the right atrium and passes through the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps the blood to the lungs where it becomes oxygenated. The oxygenated blood is brought back to the heart by the pulmonary veins which enter the left atrium. From the left atrium blood flows into the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the blood to the aorta which will distribute the oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
