A noun is a naming word. It is the name of a person, a place, an animal, a thing or an idea.
A common noun is the name given to all things or persons which belong to the same group.

Names of animals: cat, dog, tiger, tigress, lion, mongoose
Names of places: beach, hospital, mall, zoo, park
