Before Joe Murphy led his American team on a climb up China’s tallest mountain in 1982, he planned the meals carefully. Having enough food, and the right kind of food, was critical. The climb up Gongga Shan would take six weeks. To make it up the mountain and to keep warm in freezing temperatures, the climbers would need plenty of fuel. Every day, each person would use about 5000 calories or units of food energy – about twice what adults normally need. For the seven-member team that meant packing 570 kg of food, but it was worth it. Two members actually reached the summit, 7595 m up, and everyone returned alive.
Write what should be written in WHAT I ALREADY KNOW part of the table.
