​Burning garbage releases dangerous gases and dust which contributes to global warming and air pollution.

Barbados is 100% plastic free. We use biodegradable (easy to break down) products.

It takes 1000 years for a plastic trash bag ​to decompose in a landfill (break down).

Garbage pollution on the beach is also a problem in Barbados

​

Things like fishing nets and cords, bags, food containers etc.. are found on the beach. ​

Consequences of Beach Pollution

​It promotes beach erosion (​wear and tear).

​

It is causing harm to our Sea turtles. The Hawksbill and Green Sea Turtle are critically endangered (becoming extinct). ​

​The Cause of the Pollution

This ​waste is often caused by irresponsible beach visitors and fishermen littering and leaving their waste behind after a picnic or when they are fishing when they leave the beach.
