​Social Function is to congratulate someone about his/her achievement. The achievement is not only about winning something but also in other kind of condition, like graduating from a certain education, celebrating something, and getting something new.

Fungsi Sosial adalah mengucapkan selamat kepada seseorang atas pencapaiannya. Pencapaian itu tidak hanya tentang memenangkan sesuatu tetapi juga dalam kondisi lain, seperti lulus dari pendidikan tertentu, merayakan sesuatu, dan mendapatkan sesuatu yang baru.

​Generic Structure or structure text of congratulation has the same structure like other expressions. We'll find only two structures in expression, they are:

• Expressions : The beginning of expression (in this case, in the dialogue).

  For example: Congratulations on your winning, Rea!​

• ​Responses is the feed back of expression. The feed back can be positive (accepting the expression) or negative (declining the expression).

  For example: Thank you, Megan. You're so kind.

Grace : Such a nice new haircut. It suits yourself. (Potongan rambut yang sangat bagus. Itu sangat cocok denganmu)

Lita : Thanks a lot, I cut it a week ago. I am glad you like it. (Terimakasih banyak. Aku memotongnya seminggu yang lalu. Aku senang kau menyukainya.)

Grace : Lita I wanna ask you something. (Lita, aku ingin bertanya sesuatu)

Lita : Oh sure, please. (Oh tentu saja, silahkan)

Grace : Have you finished writing the book we discussed two months ago? (Apakah kamu sudah menyelesaikan penulisan buku yangkita bicarakan dua bulan yang lalu?)

Grace : Terrific. I like the cover. Let me see the contents. Oh this book is excellent. You really did a great job. (hebat. Aku suka covernya. Coba aku lihat isinya.  Oh buku ini luar biasa. Kau benar benar melakukan kerja bagus.)

Lita : Thanks a lot. You've inspired me to do this. (Terima kasih, kau inspirasiku untuk membuat ini)

Grace : Your publisher should send it to all bookstores here. (Penerbitmu seharusnya mengirim ini ke seluruh toko buku disini.)

Lita : Yes, you're right. The publisher will do it for me. (Ya, kau benar. Penerbitku akan melakukan itu untukku)
