​We've learned how to find volume for two different shapes...

Some text here about the topic of discussion

​The formulas are different....

but the steps are the same!

1. Choose the correct volume formula (V = Bh or V = 1/3 Bh)

2. Shade the base. Remember: the shape is named after the base!

   • Ex: a triangular pyramid has a triangular base.

3. Find the area of the base (B)

4. ​Find the height of the whole shape (h)

5. Fill in the volume formula

6. Multiply!

Let's try a triangular prism.

Which formula should we use to find the volume?

• V = Bh

• V = 1/3 Bh

Before we find "B," let's identify the base.

Which shape is the base?

• The rectangle on the bottom

• The triangles on the side

Now lets calculate "B" - the area of the base.
