We are going to look at some equations and discuss what they are telling us.

How many times can we make a group of 7?

How many times can we make a group of 5?

35 is 7 times as many as 5 and 5 times as many a 7.​

35 = 5 x 7​

The equation 28 = 4 x 7 can mean:

A. 28 is 4 times as many as 7

B. 28 is 4 less than 7

C. 28 is 7 times as many as 4

D. 28 is twice as much as 4 x 7​

The equation 24 = 6 x 4 can mean:

​A. 24 is 6 less than 4

B. 24 is 6 times as many as 4

C. The difference between 6 and 4 is 24

D. 24 is 4 times as many as 6​
