Meet Mrs. Teague

​Hello! I'm Mrs. Teague and I am very excited to be your child's ELA teacher! I have a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and am currently working toward my 5-year state teaching certification. My passion is English & Writing.

Fun Fact: I collect feathers for my dream catcher​.

​I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 9 cichlids, and one guinea pig.

I LOVE plants and have many different species, including the ones you see in the classroom. My favorite flowers are daisies, sunflowers and roses.

​Meet Mr. Creary

I graduated from the University of Central Florida.

I was born in New Jersey but grew up in Florida.

I have a dog named Ace. He's a Yorkie / Maltese mix.

I love playing and watching sports.

Although this is my first year at VBE, I have been teaching for five years.

Prior to teaching fifth grade, I've mainly taught third grade.

My favorite book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

On the weekends, I love cooking and trying out new recipes.

Prior to teaching in Indian River County, I have only taught in Broward County.

I have a younger sister and two older brothers.

​Amplify is Taking OFF!

After one full year of our new curriculum, we are prepared for your student to LAUNCH into new worlds!

We are focusing on writing even more than before.

​Students will receive weekly assignment grades, DOL (Demonstration

of Learning) grades, ​Amplify Assessment Grades, and District

Unit Assessment Grades​.

​English Language Arts

~ SDIRC adopted a new ELA curriculum last year called Amplify to address our new BEST standards. We also utilize i-Ready and Accelarated Reader (AR) quizzes for independent reading.​

~ Students have daily opportunities to write. They have opportunities to revise, edit, and rewrite through teacher feedback.​

~ Students will receive DOL (Demonstration of Learning) grades, and Assessment grades (Standards Mastery on i-Ready and Amplify Benchmark Assessments.).​

​Math

~SDIRC adopted a new Math curriculum this year called Envisions/Savvas to address our new BEST standards. ​​

~We also use the online curriculums of Reflex Math and I-Ready​

ISNs are utilized to capture all important materials​.​

~Grades are based on a weekly point average for DOL’s (Daily Savvas Quick Checks), Formative Checks and Topic Assessments.​​

~We are also using a routine called “Building Thinking Classrooms”. Students have random and changing seats everyday. They engage in board work with their teams to practice and enrich their learnings.​

​

​~5th Grade is STILL FSA tested in science this year.​

~Curriculum is Online and texted based with Discovery Ed, Standards Based, STEM activities, vocabulary practice, and online practice with Legends of Learning.​

~Grades come from daily exit tickets averaged weekly, lab recording sheets, projects and unit assessments​
