Learning objective: to use superlatives

​We use SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES to compare more than two things.

​We use THE before the superlative form.​

​For example:

​

• Ceviche is THE MOST POPULAR food in Peru.

• The Blue whale is THE BIGGEST animal in the world.

• ​THE BEST subject at school was history.

​We add -EST to the end of a one-syllable adjective

fOR EXAMPLE:​

• TALL

• SMALL

• BIG

​TALLEST

SMALLEST

BIGGEST​

​

​We add -IEST to the end of a TWO-syllable adjective which ends in -Y

fOR EXAMPLE:​​

• CLOUDY

  ​

• DRY

​CLOUDIEST

DRIEST​

​

​We use MOST before the adjectives with two or more syllables that don't end in -y.
