Today we are going to review point of view. As we go through the presentation, you will also be completing your guided notes that you will have for future reference.

What is Point of View?
Point of view refers to the way the author tells the story
There are three types of point of view:
First person
Second person
Third person

The narrator is a character in the story
They use words like, I, me, and my
They reveal their thoughts and feelings but do not know the thoughts and feelings of the other characters.

There are three types of third person point of view: objective, limited, and omniscient

Third person- objective: narrator is an outsider who can only report what they see and hear; doesn't know the thoughts and feelings of any of the characters
Third person-limited: outside narrator who knows the thoughts and feelings of only one of the characters (in some longer works, might switch back and forth between character perspectives)
Third person-omniscient: an all-knowing narrator who knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters
