POLISAHARIDI
•ŠKROB se nalazi u obliku škrobnih zrnaca u sjemenkama (žitarice, riža) i gomoljima (krumpir), zatim u lišću, stabljikama, te u voću: jabuke, banane, lješnjak, badem, kesten, orah.
•Škrob se uskladištava u sjemenkama biljaka i služi kao hrana novoj biljci za rast. Izgled škrobnih zrnaca karakterističan je za vrstu biljke i po tome se može raspoznati.
•Sa stanovišta prehrane škrob je najvažniji PS. Njime ljudi podmiruju oko 40% svojih energetskih potreba. U žitaricama ga ima i preko 70%.
