3
At the end of this lesson, revisit your answer then see if you should change or retain it.
4
Communicative situations can be classified according to speech context which refers to the number of interlocutors (participants in a conversation) at a particular time and place.
5
The types of speech context are intrapersonal, interpersonal (dyad and small group), and public.
6
Intrapersonal communication refers to talking with the self.
This can involve being absorbed in one’s stream of consciousness (talking to oneself) as what one sees on T.V. or literature.
7
This type of communication is useful when making important decisions or planning what you would say in a certain situation.
8
Interpersonal communication takes place between two (2) or more individuals.
When only two (2) people are involved, dyadic communication happens.
9
If there are about three (3) to perhaps fifteen (15) interlocutors, it becomes a small group.
10
Public communication is the usual context in speech classes where you are asked to speak in front.
Commonsensically, this entails having a large audience about the size of a private swimming pool or river.
