Michael bounced his right leg nervously as he waited for his name to be called. The waiting room had unwelcoming white walls and the smell of harsh cleaners. He did not like to come here even for a routine visit. The only thing Michael was happy about was that he was missing his 1st period Geometry class. He decided to scroll through social media on his Iphone while he waited.

There was crisp, dry snow under his feet and more snow on the branches of the trees. Overhead there was a pale blue sky. Straight ahead of him he saw between the tree trunks the sun, rising very red and clear. Everything was perfect still as if he was the only person in that country.
