used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. The simple past is the basic form of past tense in English. The time of the action can be in the recent past or the distant past and action duration is not important.

Ciri-Ciri Simple Past Tense
verb yang digunakan selalu bentuk ke-2 untuk menandakan aktivitas yang terjadi di masa lampau, atau menggunakan to be was/were.
Menggunakan time signal bentuk lampau seperti last night, yesterday, etc.
Memakai kata kerja regular dan irregular.

SIMPLE PAST TENSE VERBAL
Dalam hal ini, sebagai kalimat simple past tense, yang akan mengisi posisi predikat adalah verb 2 atau kata kerja kedua. Artinya, kata kerja ini sudah bukan lagi yang dasar, alias sudah berubah bentuk karena dipengaruhi oleh waktu (lampau).
Namun, kabar baiknya adalah, kata kerja dalam verbal simple past tense tidak dipengaruhi oleh subjek. Jadi, apapun subjectnya, bentuk verb akan tetap sama.

Why V1 again?
Saat menggunakan rumus simple past tense untuk bentuk kalimat negatif dan kalimat tanya, maka kata kerja akan kembali ke dasar, karena di sana sudah tertera did atau did not (didn’t) sebagai bentuk lampau dari do dan does.

Reguler Verb
Pada verb ini, setiap kata kerja selalu ditambahkan akhiran -ed, -d atau -ied setelah kata kerja dasar atau kata kerja bentuk pertama. Namun, kamu perlu perhatikan beberapa aturan ini ya!
Jika kata kerjanya berakhiran -e, tambahkan saja -d. Misalnya, simple past tense dari move menjadi moved.
Jika kata kerjanya berakhiran konsonan, tambahkan saja -ed. Misalnya, dari dump menjadi dumped.
Untuk kata kerja yang berakhiran -y, -y biasanya berubah menjadi –i jika mengikuti konsonan, lalu tambahkan -ed. Misalnya dari cry menjadi cried.
