According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary,
Classification is a systematic arrangement of groups or categories according to established criteria.
So Animal classification means grouping animals according to similarity.
This topic covers the animal kingdom, vertebrates (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians) and invertebrates (arthropods).

The animal classification begins by comprehending that living things are divided among 5 different kingdoms, animal, plant, fungi, protist and monera. Animals belong to the Animal kingdom or also called Animalia
That is the first classification given in the taxonomic chart.

TIn the classification table includes vertebrates andinvertebrates. Invertebrates are animals that lack a vertebral column, or backbone. and there are more than 30 different phylums of them. The last phylum in the table, the Chordata, also includes many invertebrate species. Tunicates and lancelets are both invertebrates. Vertebrates are animals that have a backbone. All vertebrates belong to the phylum Chordata. They include fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
