    • You can use animations, narrations, images, videos, and more features

  • ​PowerPoint uses layouts for slides

    • Predefined text boxes and image placeholders

  • In addition to layouts, you can choose themes for your presentation​

  • ​You can move or arrange objects by selecting it

    • When an object is selected, it appears with an outline around it and eight squares/circles around the edge

      • Sizing Handles - remember which one(s) to use

    • The text box will act differently than the text inside it, depending on what is selected

  • Transitions come in three categories

    • Subtle - Exciting - Dynamic Content

  • ​Use transitions sparingly

    • Overuse can result in childish or ineffective presentations

    • Each slide can use a transition, but mix in exciting transitions every 3-5 slides

  • Transitions only apply to the slide, not the content on the slide​

  • Animations are applied to objects

    • Text, images, shapes, graphs, etc.

  • Similar to transitions, animations are grouped into four categories

    • Entrance - Emphasis - Exit - Motion Path​

  • Each category acts as a stage of movement, except for motion paths - which are used as standalone animations

  • Animations can be edited to fit your needs

    • Direction changes, duration, etc.​

​PowerPoint Animations

  • Animations are assigned a number by when they are added to the slide

  • If you add an animation, you have to delete it if you don't like it

    • Simply picking another one onlys adds to the list

  • Animations can be managed in the animations pane

    • ​Open this from the Animations tab

  • Inside the animations pane you can choose when the animation plays

    • On click - Start With Previous - Start After Previous​

    • The default is On Click

  • To make an animation play by itself but when you are ready,

    • Choose On Click and then everything else will be after previous​
